Champions League 2026/27: Is England Taking Over European Football?

The new Champions League season has started — and English clubs have already made a statement.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa all won their opening matches. Across the first round, 16 of 18 games ended in victories, with very few surprises.

So, is the Premier League becoming too strong for the rest of Europe?

Money is clearly a major factor. English clubs have bigger budgets, deeper squads and more financial power to attract top players. This gives them a huge advantage in a long and demanding European campaign.

But Real Madrid and Barcelona remain serious contenders. Madrid started with a win over Inter, while Barcelona impressed with a 5–1 victory over Feyenoord.

The season is only beginning, but one thing is already clear: English clubs are setting the pace — and Europe will be watching to see who can stop them.
